Air sealing occupies an unusual position in Manitoba's incentive landscape — there is no standalone Efficiency Manitoba rebate for air sealing work comparable to the Home Insulation Rebate or the Windows and Doors Rebate.

This is worth knowing upfront so you can plan your project budget accordingly.

That said, air sealing is far from unsupported.

Manitoba Hydro's Home Energy Efficiency Loan (HEEL) explicitly lists air leakage sealing as an eligible upgrade category — financing professional air sealing work with no down payment and repayment through your energy bill.

Air sealing is also one of the most cost-effective contributors to the Home Energy Retrofits whole-home rebate — because sealing delivers substantial energy savings at low cost, it improves the economics of any whole-home retrofit project it is part of.

And for income-qualifying households, free air-sealing products and draft proofing are available through Efficiency Manitoba's income-based programs.

Air sealing on its own — without accompanying upgrades such as insulation, window, or heating — will rarely generate enough total energy savings to make the Home Energy Retrofits Program (HER) worthwhile.

Where air sealing shines is as part of a combined project: sealing before insulating means both measures contribute savings, and the low cost of the air sealing work improves the overall return on the project.
